The Passenger Princess

Passenger Princess- by Simone Skinner-Smith

Imagine trading the glossy, high-drama world of reality TV production for a script you couldn't possibly write.

That's exactly what Simone did. Dead bored of orchestrating onscreen chemistry between fame-hungry singles in hot tubs, this happily married mum of two hit mid-life crisis territory. But instead of buying a sports car, she fell down a social media rabbit hole, becoming utterly obsessed with families doing the "Big Lap" of Australia.

These weren't retirees waiting for their golden years; these were everyday families ditching the suburban grind for endless adventure. And Simone wanted in.

After convincing her husband to uproot their lives, they did the unthinkable:

  • Hired a caravan
  • Quit their jobs
  • Pulled the kids out of school

But as they quickly found out, the brutal unpredictability of #vanlife looks radically different through a windshield than it does through an Instagram filter. From barely surviving the elements to utterly thriving as a unit, Simone's story is a funny, heartfelt masterclass in resilience. It's a powerful reminder that the life you're craving might just be waiting on the other side of brave.

Because on the open road, riding shotgun isn't the passenger seat - it's the power seat.
