North Queensland Beauty

I am no stranger to a good road trip, blessed to have travelled all around Australia. We have an amazing diverse country that should be explored! But on a recent trip up to Townsville driving from Brisbane, we were reminded of north Queenland's beauty. It was hardly a discussion before my partner and I jumped back in the car and kept on driving north. Its easy to get stuck on the highway but we pull off as often as we can to explore all the surroundings have to offer. Boy am I glad we did!

I cannot recommend highly enough that people detour out to the coast and visit the Mission beach surrounds. Kurrimine beach I've often heard spoken of and now I understand why. What a great holiday spot with a fantastic caravan park and (bonus) great pub that meets the beach! Bingil Bay was a fun little town with a fantastic and unique cafe worth popping into, the food and coffee was great! But Etty bay beach is the true hidden gem. Surrounded by national park, the forest meets the beach and it truly is a beautiful sight to be seen. The big old and amazing trees are growing with horizontal limbs the size of trunks stretching out to the ocean and canopies to get lost in.. Its easy to feel just as if you've been transported into an enchanted world. Also while you're there, if you're lucky…You might even spot a cassowary as it is a known spot for them strolling along the beach at dusk and dawn. If you travel with freedom, not just focusing on getting from A to B you will discover many beautiful experiences and adventures along the way. This was all within a day trip. The photo is of Laceys creek as you turn off the highway heading out to the coast.
