Weekend at the Grampians
The image above depicts my and my partner's trip to the Grampians. The location of that photo was taken at Boroka lookout. However, there were several other places we visited on our weekend away. We left from the Northern suburbs of Melbourne, travelling up the M8 to get to the Grampians, stopping via Waack's bakery in Ararat.
We stayed at the Plantation campsite, which is a beautiful free campsite and a short 12-minute drive to Halls Gap (the heart of the Grampians). This trip was taken at the beginning of December, so the weather was nice and warm, we were even lucky enough to take a dip in the Venus Baths.
Some other places we walked to were the Pinnacle and Mackenzie's Falls as well as The Balconies lookout, which all have a 2km or less walk-in. There was so much to see and do, especially in Halls Gap. The town accommodates many different family types. There are several motels, caravan parks, botanical gardens cafes and souvenir shops, which are all in close proximity to each other
On Sunday morning we hiked to the top of Mt William which provided 360 views and then visited some Aboriginal Rock Art at Ngamadjidj Shelter which was a very wonderful and peaceful site. Did you know that there are over 200 recorded pieces of Aboriginal art at the Grampians? Therefore, there is more of a reason to come back!
Before we made the drive back to Melbourne, we took a look at Beehive Falls and who could not forget a trip to Barneys Pub to fill your stomachs after a jam-packed weekend? It was a weekend to remember and I definitely recommend taking a trip out to the Grampians.
